Flora H. Rolfsness, age 100, of Roseburg, OR, died at home Saturday, July 8, 2017, in the loving care of her daughter and son-in-law.

Born on April 16, 1917, at her parents home in Portland, Oregon, she was the last child born to the late Anna Marie and George Rueck Sr., who were Volga German immigrants from Russia.

She married her love, Oscar Conrad Rolfsness in 1942. Upon returning from his service during WWII, the couple bought a business and moved to Roseburg, OR.

Flora worked in several occupations including; a maid for a Rabbi (where she met Oscar), Sunshine Biscuit, and office receptionist. She also riveted patches on war planes while living in San Francisco. Lastly she worked for several dentists in Roseburg before retiring after working 41 years mostly as a chair side dental assistant.

In her life she enjoyed trips to the beach, sailing, camping, gardening and reading. She was a member of the grange and various clubs in her younger years. Her later years were spent reading the Holy Bible.

In 1950, she and Oscar accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior at a Billy Graham Crusade in Portland and was baptized at First Christian Church in Roseburg where she was an active member and had joined the church choir. Flora dearly loved her church families at both First Christian and Portland Christian Center.

Flora was preceded in death by her parents, and all siblings and their spouses, making her the last of her generation. She was also preceded by nephew, Vernon; niece, Sheryl; and great-grandniece, Ellie.

Flora is survived by her only child, Trina Kay and her husband, Dick McConnell; and grandson, Jonathan McConnell of Roseburg. She also had four grandchildren of the heart, Laura (Jerry) Thompson of Oregon, Jason (Sandra) McConnell of Clint, TX, Shelley McConnell, and Steffanie Moore, both of Roseburg; four great-grandchildren of the heart, Dakota McConnell of Roseburg, Jacob and sister, Emily McConnell, and Faith Moore; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Flora was laid to rest with her husband, in a private service at Willamette National Cemetery.

Our family thanks those in an endless list, who with their assistance, prayers and support allowed us to care for her here at home. Special thanks to her physician Dr. Bradley Townsend and staff, The Community Cancer Center and staff, in-home caregiver, Steff Moore, Amedisys Hospice who helped us in her final days, Wilsons Chapel of the Roses, and lastly Willamette National Cemetery.
