Paul Lyle Warner, 91, of Galien, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 in Benton Harbor.

He was born February 25, 1926 in Rockfalls, IL to late Charles Sibley Warner and Ella (Smith) Warner. He is also preceded in death by his three brothers, Charles W. Warner, Merle M. Warner, and Wayne L. Warner; Also preceded in death by one sister, Iola Stanley.

Paul and his brothers all served in WWII, in different branches of the military and was proud that all four brothers made it home safely. Paul served in the Navy, in the Philipines and Corregidor in the Manila Bay.

He was a proud Navy Veteran and avid race fan. Racing cars in his younger years and as a fan in the later years.

On February 17, 1954, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, he married Naomi Swem. Paul and Naomi made their home and raised their children in Galien, MI. Naomi preceded him in death, on December 28, 1996. He was active in many organizations, including a lifetime member of the Galien American legion, a member of the VFW, active with the Galien Ambulance Association, the Galien Fire Department, and board member of Galien Township Council.

Paul is survived by his children, Terry (Debbie) Blood of Mesa, AZ, Paula Burns of South Bend, IN, Patti Markunas of Hagerstown, MD, Judy Wilcox of South Bend, IN, and Ronald Warner of Cassopolis, MI; Also survived by his half-brother, Larry Swanson of Birchwood, WI, and his sister, Marilyn Bogdonas of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, April Neely, Terry Burns, Jason Burns and Nicole Trybula and 3 great-grandchildren.

In his later years, Paul was loved and cared for by his companion, Phyllis Turner and her family of Benton Harbor, MI.

Visitation for Paul will be at Noon on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Hoven Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 2 pm. Burial will take place at a later date in Galien Cemetery.
