Melissa “Pat” Bowles Baird, 90, of Colonial Heights, passed away at the Dunlop House on Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Mrs. Baird was a life time resident of Hopewell. She was a charter member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Hopewell and a member of the Wesley United Methodist Women. Mrs. Baird was preceded in death by her son, Butch, and sister, Dot Jones. She is survived by her husband, Horace “HB” Baird; daughter, Alice B. Curtis and her husband, Barry; granddaughter, Kim Curtis; cousins, Cookie Gilbride, Ronnie Davis, Buddy Brandon, Carolyn Beasley and Bob Matthews; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Baird and Mable Baird; niece, June Edwards and husband Jerry and great nephews, Wes and Jeff Edwards. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 18, 2013 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 2901 Norfolk Street, Hopewell with the Rev. Wayne Rickman and Jerry Edwards officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private. The family expresses a special thanks to the Dunlop House and Crater Community Hospice. Pink flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church or to the Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, 23805
