Sonya Kay Cummings was born on October 1, 1967 in Madill, Oklahoma to W. R. Eason and Connie (Gilbert) Eason. She passed away on July 12, 2017 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 49. Sonya called many places “home”, but her favorite place to be was among God’s miracles of nature. She loved to go on adventures with her family which included, swimming at the quarry in Bromide, fishing at Blue River and looking for arrowheads at Ten Acre Rock. She had a green thumb and could grow anything. She canned most of their food and her late husband, Rusty, was a great hunter, providing plenty of deer meat and fish to keep the freezer stocked. She was a woman of faith and read her bible often. Sonya adored Granny and Papa Gilbert and always wanted to be a reflection of her Granny. Her greatest accomplishment in life was becoming a mother to her three children, Bill, Nolan and Chenoa. She loved them more than anything in this world. As all humans do, Sonya had her own personal demons, but anyone that knew her would say she was the sweetest, most selfless person they knew. We lay her free spirit to rest today, where she can fly to finally reunite with her sister Renea and Rusty.
Besides her children, Sonya is survived by her mother, Connie Stevens; two brothers, Ty Eason and Scott Eason; three grandchildren, William P. McCarter, IV, Lane McCarter and Aiden Hawk Cummings; other relatives and friends.
