David Samuel Butcher a former resident of Newtown, WV, born on May 13, 1956, at Newtown, was the son of the late James and Hazel Witcher Butcher, departed this life suddenly but yet peacefully on Tuesday morning August 8, 2017 while a resident of Kyle’s Place an assisted Living facility located at Oak Hill, WV. David was 61 years old.

When health allowed David had worked for Simpkins’ Lumber of Meader, WV and for Kenny Smith of Phelps, KY. David had a heart of Gold his kind, caring and nurturing spirit was second to none. In fact, David often times went without food ensuring those around him had something to eat. Often struggling many times himself he would always put the concerns of others way before his own. He will be sorely missed by his loving brother, sisters and all who had the opportunity of knowing him.

He is survived by his brother Robert Butcher of Varney, WV, sisters Judy Potter of Forest Hills, KY and Ginger Lawrence of Dobson, NC David is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and a community of family and friends.

Services honoring David’s life will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Chambers Funeral Services’ Chapel of Matewan, WV with Bro. Dallas Rife officiating with burial following in the Ellison Hatfield Cemetery of Newtown, WV.

The family will begin receiving friends on Thursday August 10, 2017, from 6-9:00 p.m., at the funeral home chapel.
