He is survived by his friend and companion of 37 years, Mary Lou Blackburn of Arcadia; one daughter, Pam (Frank) Hudson of Council Bluffs, IA; three sons, Marc Cox of Overland Park, KS, Roger Cox of Beardstown and Bradley Ray Cox of Cedar Creek, TX; two sons he raised as his own, Andy (fiance, Lindsey Dawdy) Dobb of Murrayville, and T.J. (Ashley) Dodd of Bowling Green, MO; 10 grandchildren, Amy, Callie, Alycia, Casey, Cody, Blake, Maci, Kiah, Kellon, and Karter; 6 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Julia French and Ina Mae Vaughn both of Virginia and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ava Claire Dodd, and two brothers, Jessie Cox and David Cox (surviving wife, Leota of Virginia).
Mr. Cox was the owner and operator of Lazy C Rodeo for over 60 years. He contracted many rodeos at local county and state fairs. He enjoyed teaching young cowboys every Sunday and attending livestock sales.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The family will meet friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
