Lt. Col. Paul F. Melcher (Ret), 84, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at Palmetto Heart Health Richland, after complications from surgery. Lt. Col Melcher was born April, 8, 1933 in Platte Center, NE.

He retired from the U. S. Marine Corps after 23 years and worked 19 years as a plant supervisor at Michelin Tire Corporation.

He is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 59 years: Betty Melcher of Lexington; five children: Melody Podraza (Ken), Paul Melcher II (Sherry), Greg Melcher, Shawn Melcher (Wendy), Angela Hailey (John); 10 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and two sisters. He is predeceased by his father: Arnold J. Melcher; mother: Sylvia Melcher; brothers: Maurice, Jerry, Ron, David Melcher and sister: Janet Melcher.

A Mass celebrating the life of Paul, will be held on Friday, August 11 at 11:30 AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lexington. Following the Mass, a reception will be held at the church to receive visitors and share stories. Barr-Price Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
