Marvin R. Young age 77 of Lenoir City went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 7, 2017 at his home after a year long illness. He was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. Marvin retired from Y-12 in Oak Ridge after 28 years of service. He spent countless hours studying and memorizing the bible at his home. He left behind all of his years of handwritten and dated accounts of his studies of the King James Version. He loved hiking and driving through the mountains. Marvin loved music and found joy in praise and singing. He was dearly loved and will be missed by his family and committed companion of 19 years, Shirley Gossage. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Beulah Young and the mother of his children, Margaret Duff Stout. Survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Marty and Rob Troxler of Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Kristi Young of Friendsville; granddaughter, Margi Troxler; brother and sister-in-law, L. D. and Colleen Young of Dahlonega, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Richard Brown of Lenoir City; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 12th at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Click Funeral Home, 109 Walnut Street, Lenoir City is in charge of arrangements.
