Salem - Junior was born on February 19, 1922 in Albany, Oregon to Herman and Lydia Asche. Junior lived and worked on the family farm in Albany until he was 14 years old, when the family sold that farm and moved to Toledo, Oregon.

Junior continued farming until he graduated from Toledo High School in 1940. He then became a millwright at the sawmill in Toledo. He joined the U.S. Army in 1942. He was a member of the 104th Infantry Division-Timberwolves. Junior served in Europe during WWII, where "they got the job done." He returned to millwrighting in Toledo and Portland.

Junior married Margueritte King (Robinette) in 1955. They had two daughters. In 1969, the family moved Anchorage, Alaska where he worked for the City of Anchorage Parks and Recreation. He maintained all the ice rinks during the winter months and the golf course in the summer, as well as the city greenhouses.

Junior loved the outdoors and while in Alaska, he and his family enjoyed fishing, clam digging, camping, skiing, snowmobiling, and gardening. While living in the caretaker's house on the golf course, they had a large garden and many beautiful flowers. They gave tours of their gardens to many tour buses during the summer months.

Junior's wife, Margueritte, passed away in 1991.

He married Ruth Waring in 1992. They lived in Siletz and Corvallis, where he continued his gardening. Ruth passed away in 2012.

Junior loved his Lord and family. He enjoyed telling stories of his childhood and "the old days," as well as reminiscing of Alaska.
