Arthur Eugene "Gene" Pierce went to be with the Lord on August 8, 2017. He passed away at his home, surrounded by family after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born on June 29, 1949, to John Wayne and Martha Rich Pierce, who preceded him in death.

Gene graduated from Farmer High School, attended RCC, and was an Army Vietnam vet. He was an electrician and active member of Asheboro Friends Meeting. His life was a witness to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He is survived by wife of 46 years, Cynthia M. Pierce; children: Laura (Ben) Hurley and David (Lynn) Pierce; grandchildren: Sarah Hurley and Katee Pierce; in-laws: Thurman and Helena McBride, Garry McBride, Nancy (Larry) Byrd and family, Sue Dunn, Barbara Councilman; siblings: Linda Bristow, Wayne (Barbara) Pierce, and Brantley (Bonnie) Pierce.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 12, 2017, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 13, 2017, at Asheboro Friends Meeting with pastors David Millikan and Ben Hurley officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery with military honors.

Thanks and appreciation to the many friends, family, and medical professionals who walked this journey with us providing love, support, acts of kindness, and prayers.
