A.B. was honorably discharged after his service in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He constructed, owned and managed apartment complexes in Louisiana and Mississippi, and took an active part in their operations until a few days before his passing. A. B. enjoyed hunting, fishing and visiting with his family. Having accepted Christ as his Savior at a young age, he was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church in Tupelo.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Betty Bowen; children, Beverly King of Saltillo, Clay Bowen (Nancy) of Tupelo, Charlotte Baker (Don) of Amory and Wendy Kalimeris (Thanos) of New Albany; brother, Levell Bowen (Betty Lou) of Arkansas; six grandchildren, Heather Reese, Sam Baker, Megan Brister (Jim), Alicia Bowen, Ryan Bowen and Chris King (Koko); and two great-grandchildren, Colton and Hunter King.
A. B. was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Fynn; and three brothers, Aaron, Garthie and Gullick Bowen.
Services will be 12 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Robert Milton Harris officiating. Burial will be at Tupelo Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2017 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
