Joe Earl Riggs, 79, passed away January l1, 2000. He was born August 24, 1920 in Soper, Oklahoma to Joe Earl Riggs, Sr. and Susan Roebuck Riggs. It was from his mother he received the Choctaw heritage he was so proud of.

He and the family were thankful to Alice Roebuck Gentry for her extensive research of their Choctaw family tree.

Mr. Riggs was a 52-year member of the Pipefitters Local Union #211, Pasadena, Texas.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Rachel Navratil Riggs; daughters, Jo Ann Wingert, and her husband, Barry, and Judy Riggs; sons, Joe Glynn Riggs and Earl Lynn Riggs and his wife, Avola; granddaughter, Rachel Wilson; grandson, Mark Wilson; sister and brother-in-law, Inez and Gene Claborn of Hugo, Oklahoma, and sister-in-law, Ann Henry and her husband, Neal.

His family was his greatest love and he found great satisfaction in his hobbies of building, car repair, gardening and feeding his squirrels. He lived for his family and taught them to love and have faith in God. We dearly miss him, his wisdom, his helping hand, his supporting strength, his hugs and smiles.
