James E. “Jim” Bandy, age 80 of Bewleyville, KY died Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Norton Inpatient Care Center. He was born in Bewleyville, KY on August 20, 1936, the son of the late Elbert Compton Bandy and Lorene Claycomb Bandy. Jim retired from Olin Chemical Company after 43 years of service. He was a member of Bewleyville United Methodist Church where he served as treasurer for over 35 years and a member of the Irvington High School Class of 1954. As one of the members of the Irvington High School baseball team, he loved telling the story of being the catcher in a no hitter pitched by teammate Shirley Wilson. Jim, as well as many others in the community, made up the Green Valley Breakfast Club – a group that had lots of stories to tell, solved many problems and their friendships continued for many years.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, canning, watching the Lone Ranger, Cincinnati Reds and American Pickers.

Jim had an infectious smile, never hesitated to start a conversation and loved meeting new friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joyce who died May 11, 2015.

Jim is survived by his son – Tim Bandy and his wife Cindy of Hardinsburg, KY

Daughter – Sandra Chedwick and her husband Mike of Decatur, GA

2 grandchildren – Lauren Moore and her husband Bryan of Lexington, KY

Zach Bandy of Hardinsburg, KY

2 great granddaughters – Hunter Rhodes Moore and Mimi James Moore

3 step great grandsons – Jackson, Will and Clay Moore of Lexington, KY

Funeral services will be held at Bewleyville United Methodist Church on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 11 AM CDT. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Thursday, 4-8 PM CDT and Friday at the church after 10 AM CDT.

Expressions of sympathy are suggested to his church.
