Death does not come when a body is too exhausted to live.
Death comes, because the brilliance inside us can only be contained for so long.

In the early morning of January 15th 2017, Cory Aaron Cook died of an accidental overdose after a heroic battle with addiction. Cory had been sober for months and was making promising strides towards regaining control of his life. Cory was not just a brother, not just a son, not just a friend. He was an inspiration to those who were lucky enough to know him. He was a kind, gentle soul who would go out of his way to help anyone in need. He was the light at the center of any group, always having something profound, witty, and hilarious to say from behind that curtain of hair. His smile and his laugh were infectious. He was a promising musician, speaking volumes through his music. Even though he struggled every day with his pain and his addiction, his friends and family will no doubt remember him as that easygoing guy, guitar in hand, smile on his face, and a song in his heart. We have all been blessed to have had him in our lives. We ask that if you are struggling with addiction in any way, as an individual or as a family, please reach out. You are not alone! Let us bring this epidemic into the light through education and awareness. Let us be a part of the solution so that we can begin the healing process for everyone. We are involved with an amazing group of people that take Support above and beyond. Team Recovery and FAAD (Families after Addiction or Death) have been a lifeline for us in so many ways. Please if you need help reach out! 419-561-LIFE. Cory was born on February 5, 1989 in Toledo to Gene and Bobbi (Sloyer) Cook. He graduated from Perrysburg High School and continued his education at Owens Community College. Cory was majoring in Music Education. Music was a large part of his life. He loved playing the guitar, writing music and enjoyed rock and blues. He played in many different bands over the years and was currently forming one with his friends. He was working as the sous chef at Biaggi’s Ristorante Italiano in Perrysburg. He learned how to cook from his father and was very good at it. Cory will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Cory is survived by his parents, Gene and Bobbi Cook; brothers, Kyle and Nicholas Cook; grandmother, Clara (Edward) Marks and grandfather, Robert Sloyer. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Cook and grandmother, Gloria Jean Zunk. Visitation and funeral services were held at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg, followed by burial at Fort Meigs Cemetery.
