Marion Donald Spence, Sr. of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away August 6, 2017, at the age of 86 years old.
He was born on April 1, 1931, in Cooter, Missouri, and was the son of the late Fred R. Spence and Ruby P. Parks.
He served in the US Army in the Korean Conflict as a combat medic and retired from the US Army Reserves as a 1st Sergeant.
He was married to Janice Rose Conley and to this union three children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Herbert Spence, William Spence, Bobby Dee Spence, and Harold Spence; and sister, Demetra Shepherd.
Survivors include his three children: Donna Rose Flores and husband Richard, Jamie Cluck, and Marion Spence, II. He was the proud grandfather of Amy Flores (Chris) Miller, Richard D. (Arica) Flores, Samantha Flores, Jason Cluck, Aaron (McKenzie) Cluck, and Jeremy Cluck, Marion D. Spence III (Jennifer), Matthew Spence, and Joshua Spence;17 great-grandchildren; and stepdaughter, Kimberly Puccini of Florida.
Marion was a Master Mason of Herrins Prairie Lodge # 693 and a lifetime member and Past Commander of the VFW Lodge # 3972 in Cuero, Texas.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with a funeral service immediately following with Shelly Elkins officiating. Burial with military honors will be held at New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Arkansas. Pallbearers are grandsons: Jason Cluck, Aaron Cluck, Marion D. Spence, III, Matthew Spence, Joshua Spence, Richard D. Flores, and Jeremy Cluck. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements.
