Gaffney, SC - - Myra McMillan Parks, 94, of Gaffney, SC, went to be with her Lord on Monday, August 7, 2017 at Presbyterian Community in Clinton, SC.

She was the daughter of the late Leroy Calvin McMillan and Effie Cantrell McMillan and was predeceased by her beloved husband of 67 years, June L. Parks, Jr., son, William R. Parks, grandson, Ian Parks Callison, sister, Louise McMillan Harry, brothers, Leroy Calvin McMillan and William Alfred McMillan.

A devoted Christian, Mrs. Parks was a charter member of Overbrook Presbyterian Church of Gaffney, SC. She shared her strong and deep faith in God to each family member and all she came in contact with.

She graduated high school from The Presbyterian Home for Children in Clinton, SC and attended Asheville Teacher’s College in Asheville, NC.

Mrs. Parks was a homemaker, avid gardener and fitness enthusiast. She enjoyed her family, friends, church activities, playing bridge and antiquing.

Surviving are two daughters, Lynn Evatt (Steve Islander) of San Miguel, Mexico, Debbie Nowlin (Rhobie) of Spartanburg, SC, daughter-in-law, Sandra Parks of Newport News, Virginia, nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Gaffney, SC on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM officiated by Reverend Joanne Hull, associate pastor Congregational Care, First Presbyterian Church Spartanburg, SC. Visitation will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Thornwell Home for Children, 302 Broad Street, Clinton, SC 29325 or Overbrook Presbyterian Church, 919 Overbrook Drive, Gaffney, SC 29341.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of The Presbyterian Community in Clinton, SC and Hospice of Laurens County for their kind and compassionate care.

The family will be at their respective homes.
