After the end of the war, when she was only 17 years old, Lisa left her small town in what was then East Germany to seek a better life. Before she left, she consulted a "Hex Mutti" (palm reader) who told her she would be going on a long journey. Lisa made her way across the East-West border and ultimately to Stuttgart, where she thought the palm reader had indeed predicted her long journey. She didn't fully know just how accurate the palm reader was, for there were more journeys in her future.
In Stuttgart, Lisa found work on the U.S. Army base as a maid and nanny to an American family. The family set her up on a blind date with an American soldier, who was pleasant enough, but it was Allan Little, another young soldier, who caught her attention. Lisa and Allan married on December 24, 1954 in Echterdingen, Germany, and spent the next 62 years together, until Allan's death in August 2016.
Lisa and Allan had four children: Bunny, Cathy, Allan Jr. and Thomas. As a career Army family, Lisa, Allan and the children lived and traveled all over the world, from Korea to Puerto Rico, Panama, three tours in Germany and many places in the U.S.
After coming to the United States, Lisa chose to pledge her allegiance to her adopted country, and she proudly became a U.S. citizen in November 1960. She had a talent for languages, fluent in German and English, with a knowledge of Russian as well. Lisa loved literature, especially classic American and British authors, and was a lifelong reader and learner. She had a special gift for gardening.
Upon Allan's retirement from the U.S. Army in 1989, Lisa and Allan settled in Austin, Texas.
Lisa is preceded in death by her mother, Freida Fascher, and by her husband, Allan Little. She is survived by daughter Bunny and son-in-law Ted Neible, daughter Cathy and son-in-law Glenn Lively, son Allan Jr. and daughter-in-law Sue Rostvold, and son Thomas. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren and their spouses: Kristen Lively and husband Jay Thames, Laura and husband Matthew Braun, Mark Lively, Helen Little, Clayton Little, Jacqueline Little and Sabrina Little.
Lisa was laid to rest alongside Allan in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
