Celia Jane Smith, 91, of Grand Rapids, Ohio passed away August 6, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
Celia was born on August 14, 1925 to the late Albert and Amelia (Darst) Johnson in Columbus, Ohio. She married her high school sweetheart, John Jackson Smith, in Columbus, Ohio after World War II and he preceded her in death in 2006.
Celia worked as a librarian at the Stony Ridge Library until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of the Hosanna Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids. Celia loved going fishing every year at the lake with her sisters; enjoyed sewing, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Along with her parents: Albert and Amelia and husband: John, Celia was preceded in death by her son: Ronald Smith in 2016, an infant brother, and sister Vida Barchus.
Celia is survived by her daughter: Cindy (Ron) Spratt of Grand Rapids, Ohio; son: Rick (Angela) Smith of Bowling Green, Ohio; sisters: Lucille Wolfe of Sunbury, Ohio, Amelia Schell of Fremont, Ohio; brother: Charlie Johnson of London, Ohio; 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation for Celia will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the WRIGHT-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 24084 W. Second St., Grand Rapids, Ohio 43522. Tele: 419-832-2511. Funeral services for Celia will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Beaver Creek Cemetery, Grand Rapids, Ohio.
