Jennie, born in Scioto County Ohio, was the daughter of Wesley Fletcher Curtis and Elizabeth Pearl Curtis. The family moved to Clay County Illinois for a short time before moving to Dallas County in 1873 and eventually settling in the Long Creek and New Hope areas. On February 10, 1879 she married Robert Snead Kimbrough in Mesquite. Jennie joined the First Presbyterian Church September 28, 1884 during a revival meeting conducted by Rev. Collier.
On Mother's Day 1942, Jennie was honored as being the oldest member of her church and for having served in all positions of leadership. She remained an active and loyal member until her death. A portion of her obituary read "Her life ended as she had lived it - quiet and peaceful."
