Donald Banister, 80, of Coolidge, passed away August 6 at Archbold Hospital. Born January 17, 1937 in Thomasville, he was the son of the late Haywood Otto Banister and Vivian Hardy Banister. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard and owned and farmed Banister Brothers Farm. He was married to Bernice Wynette Houk Banister, who survives. He attended Coolidge Baptist Church and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors other than his wife, Wynette, include his daughters, Leah & husband Alfred and Donna & husband Chris; step-daughter, Cindy & husband Rick; grandchildren, Matthew, Mary, Jennifer, John Mark, Christina, and Austin; great-grandchildren, Katherine and Sarah; brothers, Rodney and Keith.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Coolidge Baptist Church, 2070 S. Pine St., Coolidge, GA 31738.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Big Ochlocknee Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Mike Keown and Reverend Adam Gilligan will officiate.
The family will greet friends after the service.
