Wilma Hoover Winters, 89, of Morganton, NC passed away Monday, August 7, 2017. Born in Yancey County, NC on January 31, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Hoover and Ida Geneva Grindstaff Hoover. Wilma was a member of Calvin Heights Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and attending yard sales, and she loved her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Alfred Winters; a son, Michael Dallas Winters; a brother, Herman Hoover; and sisters, Maude Duncan and Pauline Loftis.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 pm, Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will be held at 1 pm in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Doug McPeters and the Rev. Barbara Mayo officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
