July 2017 - Passage. Gary Eugene Olsen married Ida Mae Jackson September 18, 1962 in the Manti Temple, according to his obituary published in the Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News, July 18, 2017. He was employed at Hill Air Force Base for 26 years, a member of the United State Coast Guard Reserves for 23 years, enjoyed being outdoors – hunting, fish, trapping and even mining, making canes and walking sticks, which he delightful shared with others. Gary faithfully served in various calling in the LDS Church and loved spending time with his family and friends.

Leaving this world without regrets, he passed peacefully at his Magna home. Those surviving are his children: Dean Olsen (Sarah), Brad Olsen (Kristi), Teresa Forster (Mark); brother, Raymond; sisters, Verna and Gayle; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Mae; his parents, Eugene and Nora; daughter, Dalene Ellefsen; son, Duane; and granddaughter, Morgan.

Under the direction of Peel Funeral Home services were held at 11 a.m. at the Elk Run Chapel, 3610 South 8400 West, on Thursday, July 20, 2017.
