Tuttle, Alvin Clyde "Curly" age 80 of Hamilton lost his battle with cancer after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield. He was born February 25, 1930 in London, Ky. The son of the late Jarvey and Mary Elizabeth (nee Smith) Tuttle. On January 2, 1952 in London, Ky., he married Vera Mae Taylor. Mr. Tuttle was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for the Hamilton city schools for 30 years, retiring in 1985 and then worked for 17 years at the American Fan Company in Fairfield. He was a proud Mason, and a 50 year member of the Bush Lodge #703 in Kentucky, the Hugh Bates Lodge #686 in Hamilton and an honorary member of the Benjiman Franklin Lodge #719 in Hamilton since 1989. He was a member of the York Rite in Hamilton, Scottish Rite, Valley of Cincinnati, the order of Eastern Star #195, the Antioch Shrine of Dayton, the Hamilton Commandry Knights Templar since 1958, and was a Kentucky Colonel. Curly was a blue grass musician who played the mandolin and performed with many groups over the years, including the Laurel County Boys, and was a member of the Renfro Valley Barn Dance in the early 1960's. He founded the Good News Trio in the 1970's, performing gospel music and he made many albums and 45's. From the 1960's to the 1980's. Curly was a devoted husband, father, brother, and a loyal friend to all, and was known for his charismatic nature. He is survived by his wife, Vera Tuttle; his daughter, Rosemary Tuttle, and four sisters, Pauline Watkins, Marg (Herbert) Gray, Betty Duffy, and Glenda (Carl) Tuttle-Campbell. He was also preceded in death by two brothers; Estil and Robert Tuttle, and two sisters, Ruby Bullington and Aleda Tuttle. Visitation at the Webster Funeral Home 3080 Homeward Way at R.T. 4, Fairfield on Friday February 11, 2011 from 5-7 pm. A Masonic service conducted by Benjiman Franklin Lodge will begin at 7 pm Friday followed by the Order of Eastern Star service, followed by the Scottish Rite Ring Ceremony. Additional visitation and burial will take place Monday in London, Ky.
