Bobby Joe Mathews, of De Kalb, Texas passed away at age 75 Friday, August 4, 2017 at a local care facility. He was born March 23, 1942, in De Kalb, TX to Elmer and Dessie Herron Mathews.

He was a former truck driver for Mathew's Sanitation and was a member of Harvest Temple Church in Simms, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Hazel Mathews and Marie Mathews; 5 brothers; 4 sisters and a great grandchild.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Carla Mathews of Winnsboro, Texas; five daughters, Angela Barrett of Daingerfield, Texas, Shamarea Mathews of Talco, Texas, Rhonda Tinsley of Texarkana, Texas, Vanessa Mathews of Naples, Texas and Sissy Gibson of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Regina and Tex Matthews of De Kalb, Texas and Ima Jean and John Ratliff of Simms, Texas; three sisters-in-law, Nell Mathews of Simms, Texas, Pat Mathews of De Kalb, Texas and Clemie Mathews of Omaha, Texas; two brothers-in-law, Charles Gibson of Simms, Texas and Johnny Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.

Services will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with Rev. John Ratliff and Rev. Jimmy Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow at Woodmen Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas.
