Karen A. O'Dell
MATTOON — Karen Ann O'Dell, 68, of Mattoon, passed away at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Funeral services honoring her life will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, at the Apostolic Center, 205 Country Club Road in Mattoon, with the Rev. Shine Doughty, Rev. Andrew Robinson, and Rev. Les O'Dell officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Cooks Mills. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday evening at the Apostolic Center. The Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Karen was born December 24, 1939, in Mattoon, the daughter of Foster A. and Ruth (Rhoads) Poe. She married Pete O'Dell on July 14, 1960.
She leaves her loving husband of 48 years, Pete O'Dell of Mattoon; two sons, Kyle A. White of Ashmore and the Rev. Les A. O'Dell and wife Linda L. of East Longmeadow, Mass.; three stepchildren, Janet Wilson of Lacey, Washington, Curt O'Dell of Trilla, and Anita Blethroade and husband David of Humboldt; son-in-law, Jim Driskell of Neoga; brother, Bill Poe and wife Lena Mae of Mattoon; thirteen grandchildren, Seth White, Trevor White, and Chelsi Blazich and husband Mike, all of Neoga, Brandon O'Dell and wife Leah and Joshua O'Dell, all of East Longmeadow, Mass., Lisa Doughty and husband Rev. Shine Doughty of Mattoon, Brad Driskell of Queenstown, Maryland, Bruce Bonell of Lacey, Wash., Jason O'Dell, Adam O'Dell and Lori Croft and husband Jon, all of Mattoon, Jared O'Dell and wife Leslie of Decatur, Keri Blethroade of Indianapolis, Ind., and Ryan Blethroade and wife Lisa of St. Charles, Ill.; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Judy Driskell; her parents; and two brothers, Robert L. Poe and Donald G. Poe.
Mrs. O'Dell was formerly employed at the General Electric Lamp Plant in Mattoon for eighteen years. Karen was active with Christ Ministries in Charleston.
Memorial gifts in her honor are suggested to Christ Ministries or Apostolic Center.
