Herb was born November 28, 1932 to the late Earl and Essie, and is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Ira, Earl, and Lester, and his sister, Vanna Zimmerman.
Herb was a Class of 1951 Bosse High School graduate, and served in the Korean war. He was employed 38 years with Mead Johnson/Bristol Myers. Herb and Joyce loved to travel and saw all fifty states and all seven continents. He was generous, had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to serve. Unlike his brother Lester, he did not have his Cox temper under control.
Herb had a weakness for cookies and candy, and was a favorite with the women of Leisure Living, who indulged his sweet tooth.
Most important to Herb was his love for Jesus Christ. He was a sinner saved by grace, and wanted everyone to know that Jesus is the Truth, the Light and the way, and no one gets to the Father except thru Him. He and Joyce were active participants in Christian Fellowship Church.
Herb was the cherished husband of Joyce (Haas) Cox, and beloved father of Leanne and Jim Cox (Wendy). Along with his wife and children, Herb is survived by his sister, Esther Burkhardt and his good friend Ed Marting, and many nieces and nephews who adored him.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 7, 2017 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Jay Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
