September 10, 1950 - August 3, 2017 RICHMOND, Ind. – David C. Petty, age 66, of Richmond, Indiana, died August 3, 2017, at Ambassador Healthcare.
Born September 10, 1950, to Robert L. and Carolyn Campbell Petty, David was a life-long resident of this community. He was a 1968 graduate of Richmond High School. David’s longtime passion was NHRA drag racing. He and his friends had a love affair with cars and enjoyed hours working on, racing, and attending racing events.
Survivors include his mother, Carolyn Bader of Richmond; sisters, Cheryl (John) Prentice of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Janet (Mike) Elstro of Richmond; stepsister, Suzanne (Jim) Phenis of Richmond; stepbrother, Mike (Cathy) Haley of Richmond; aunt, Jean McGarvey; cousins; nieces; nephews; and some very faithful friends.
He was preceded in death by his father; stepmother, Helen Petty; and stepfather, William Bader.
Visitation for David C. Petty will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. The memorial service will be held immediately following the visitation at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Ream officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
