Myra Evans Bell, 96, passed away March 2nd, 2017 at the Franklin United Methodist Community.

Myra was born January 3rd, 1921 in Grandview, Iowa to Luther Evans and Amanda (Steffen) Evans.

She graduated from Correctionville High School with a teaching certificate and was teaching in a one room schoolhouse when she met her husband Charles N. Bell. They were married three months later on January 10th, 1942. They soon moved to Seattle, WA where Charles was stationed during the war. Charles' job in the U.S. Department of Agriculture took them from Sioux City to Indianapolis to Washington, D.C. During that time, Myra taught kindergarten and was a teacher's aide. They enjoyed traveling, especially by train riding the rails over most routes in the U.S. and Canada.

After selling their retirement home on Chincoteague Island, Virginia, they moved back to Indiana to be near their daughter.

Myra was very active at the Franklin United Methodist Community. She mentored new residents, traveled with the Red Hat ladies, gathered recycling materials and crocheted many baby blankets for the hospital. Myra loved her song birds and loved baseball, following four different teams.

Myra is survived by three children, Charles N. Bell, Jr. of Manassas, Virginia; Elizabeth Loucks (Kevin) of Stevenson, Washington and Julie Cardinale (Michael) of Harborton, Virginia; six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Barbara Lehr, three brothers, Cecil, Earl & Elden Evans, a sister, Florence Evans and two great-grandsons, Sidney & Ryan.

There will be a service on Sunday, March 5th at 12:00 p.m. at the Franklin United Methodist Community, Wright Chapel, 1070 W. Jefferson Street in Franklin with calling from 11:00 a.m. to time of service on Sunday. Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home are assisting the family with arrangements.
