Lillie Blanche Stubbs (March 29th, 1896 – July 11th, 1987) and Rex Emerson Fletcher (April 3rd, 1895 – November 8th, 1968) were married November 23, 1914, at the Stubbs Chapel in Yell County. Lillie was born at Stubbs (Yell County) and was the daughter of Minnie W. Stanley (1874 – August 23rd, 1936) and Andrew Derrick Stubbs (1869 – July 14th, 1918). Rex was born at Atkins (Pope County). He was the son of Rosa M. Peak (June 12th, 1973 – March 31st, 1940) and Willie Forrest Fletcher (March 19th, 1864 – November 10th, 1922).

Rex and Lillie were parents to 12 children: Ruby Pearl Gregory, Herman, Norma Lee Partridge, George, Helen Frances Mallard, Harold, Barbara Ann Spurlock, Nina Jean Bradshaw, Boyce Emerson, Minnie Bermell Hoover, Franklin Joe, and Rue Lewis.

Ruby Pearl was born at Stubbs on November 7th, 1915. She married Gordon Yates Gregory on December 26th, 1935. Their children were Barbara Jean, Jo Ann, and Billy. Ruby is buried at Dark Corner.

Herman (Bubby) was born at Stubbs on March 13th, 1917. He married Mary Nell Partridge on February 2nd, 1936. He died on November 15th, 1957 and is buried at Dark Corner Cemetery (Lincoln County). Their children were Lawrence Herman (deceased) and Forrest.

Norma Lee was born at Stubbs November 11th, 1918 and married Coy Partridge on November 13th, 1937. She died February 7th, 2015 and is buried at Dark Corner Cemetery (Lincoln County). Their children are Gerald, Lewis, Jennings.

George “Hootie” was born at Stubbs on February 26th, 1920. He died at five years of age on November 24th, 1924.

Helen Frances “Bright Eyes” was born at Atkins on November 2nd, 1922 and was a twin to Harold. She married John Delmer Mallard on May 6th, 1950. They had one son, John Michael, and three daughters, Sheila Kay Dunn, Therese Free, and Joetta Elliott.

Harold was a twin to Helen Frances (born at Atkins on November 2nd, 1922), and died at six weeks old on December 14th, 1922. He is buried at Atkins City Cemetery.

Barbara Ann was born at Atkins on September 9th, 1924 and married Luther D. Spurlock on November 22nd, 1945. They had two sons, David and Rex Allen, and one daughter, Bonita. Barbara died June 8th, 1980 and is buried Dark Corner Cemetery (Lincoln County).

Nina Jean was born at Stubbs on March 24th, 1926 and married Vernon David Bradshaw on July 26th, 1946. They have two sons, David and Ernie, and one daughter, Deborah White.

Boyce Emerson was born at Stubbs on July 8th, 1928 and married Myra Nell Craig on November 4th, 1949. They had two daughters, Lorrie and Alana, and one son, Boyce. They adopted one son, Matthew. Boyce died on October 30th, 1966, and is buried at Dark Corner Cemetery (Lincoln County).

Minnie Bermell Hoover was born at Stubbs on November 10th, 1930. She married George Bendel Hoover on June 17th, 1948. They had three sons, Rex Michael, Bendel Carrol, and Barry Alan.

Franklin Joe was born at Stubbs December 17th, 1932 and married Norma Mildred Moore on May 19th, 1951. They had three sons, Tony, Terry, and Tim.

Rue Lewis was born at Stubbs May 23rd, 1934 and died at three days old on May 26th, 1934. He is buried at Atkins City Cemetery.

Rex and Lillie raised their children in the rich bottom-land cotton fields of Carden Bottoms, with flat-topped Petit Jean Mountain rising nearly 1,000 ft high to the east, and the mighty and wide Arkansas River a mile to the north. The family members remember having to stack all their belongings on high shelves when the river threatened with repeated floods, including the great flood of 1927, which nearly did them in.

The family moved to Dark Corner on December 29th, 1941, where they were engaged in farming. Among the family members there are several doctors, lawyers, engineers, ministers, college professors, farmers, and business owners.

Rex and Lillie are buried at Dark Corner Cemetery in Lincoln County.
