He is also survived by two children, Kelly M. (Patricia) Jameson of Chicago, IL; Eric R. (Courtney Williams) Jameson of Macomb, IL; seven siblings, Dave (Barb) Jameson of Bushnell, IL; Doug (Gloria) Jameson of Bloomington, IL; Susan (John) Odenthal of Geneva, IL; Dan (Kathleen) Jameson of Munster, IN; Sally (John) Allhands of Watseka, IL; Gary Jameson of Peoria, IL; Lee (Loretta) Jameson of Downers Grove, IL; sister-in-law Sandy Jameson of McGregor, TX; step mother Phyllis (Raymond) Gibson and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dean Jameson, one brother in infancy and his long time best friend Randy Heil.
Larry graduated in 1967 from Richwoods High School in Peoria, IL. He graduated from Western Illinois University with a BA in 1971 before graduating from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1972. In 1983, Larry and Patrick J. Burke became business partners and purchased Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home from Glenn Wallen and Esther Dodsworth. This was the beginning of a long and successful partnership. Larry was elected McDonough County Coroner in 1980 after being selected to fill a vacancy. He was elected seven more times, serving 28 years as the McDonough County Coroner. While Coroner, Larry served on the Board of Directors for a number of years and was elected to be President of the Illinois Coroner’s and Medical Examiners Association in 1991. He became involved in the 1st Illinois Funeral Directors Disaster Response Team, helping write the guidelines book. Larry also, became a FEMA certified Disaster Response Coordinator, and longtime member of the Cook County Disaster Response Team.
Larry enjoyed living in Macomb and was very proud of his community. He was involved as a member of Jaycee’s, Odd Fellows Lodge, Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Macomb Elks Lodge, the Masonic Lodge, Quincy Consistory, Mohammed Shrine, Macomb Rotary Club, the Leatherneck Club, served on the Board of Directors for the Macomb Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Board of Directors for the Carl Sandburg College Mortuary Science Program.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday August 7, 2017 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church with Deacon Tony Ensenberger officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday August 6, 2017 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Macomb Bomber Boosters Club or to Western Illinois University Athletics.
