SHEFFIELD — Sam Aaron Sanders, 90, of Sheffield departed this life on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 peacefully at Helen Keller Hospital surrounded by family and friends. He was born November 7, 1927 to William Oliver Sanders and Josie Abernathy Sanders in Colbert County.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Simpson Sanders; one son, Jimmy Wayne Sanders (deceased); four daughters, Jorja Davis Jackson, Muscle Shoals; Vernilda Sanders Beckwith (Richard); Larie Sanders Washington; Tina Sanders Mitchum (Joseph), all of Sheffield, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral service for Mr. Sanders will be Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Brown Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Sheffield, Reverend James Coffey, officiating. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield. The body will be placed in the church at noon. The public viewing will be today from noon to 8 p.m. Thompson and Son Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, directing.
