Patricia Marie Horne Jewell of Glen Allen, Virginia, left this life on January 23, 2010 in the presence of her beloved husband, son, and daughter-in-law. She was 84 years old.

Patricia was the eldest daughter of William F. and Marie I. Horne and was a native of Seattle, Washington. She graduated from Seattle University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and from Virginia Mason Hospital of Seattle as a member of the Navy Cadet Nurse Corps. She was commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy Reserve in 1947 and served on active duty at the Naval Medical Center, San Diego-Balboa in California.

Following her military service she worked as a state health nurse in Lemoore, California for three years and as a private medical office nurse in Virginia Beach, Virginia for 11 years.

Patricia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She enjoyed lively social gatherings, colorful stories and fabulous shoes. She pursued many hobbies, including regular exercise, gardening, bowling, playing Bridge and reading. She was an avid history buff with a special interest in the Civil War. She was active in the Catholic faith and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Richmond, Virginia.

Patricia was preceded in death by her sisters, Sue Hunt and Sheila Christian. She is survived by her devoted husband, Darl Sr., with whom she shared 59 years of joy and adventure; three sons, three grandchildren; one brother, and one sister; and many nieces and nephews. Her generous heart and playful spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
