Civil War soldier, wounded at Seven Pines, Va., May 31, 1862. Lost one leg. He had enlisted May 30, 1861, at Rochester, N.Y., and had become a member of Co. H of the 67th Infantry (1st Long Island Volunteers) on June 24, 1861. He was discharged due to his wounds August 4, 1862. Born about 1840 in Monroe County, New York, he married his wife Isabella about 1868. They had a daughter, Laura, born about 1869, and a son, Alexander, born about 1882. They lived mainly in Rochester or Brighton, New York. He worked various jobs over the years, including toll gate keeper, watchman, mail carrier, and elevator man.
