Larry G. Barnard, 75, of Beatrice died at his home on Wednesday, August 2, 2017. He was born September 20, 1941 at Beatrice and graduated from Beatrice High School. He married Carolyn Jones on September 22, 1958 at Council Bluffs, IA. They lived in rural Beatrice where he was a life-long farmer. He was a member of the First Christian Church (DOC) of Beatrice and had served as a deacon. He was also a member and past president of the Beatrice Rural Fire Department and a 4-H Leader of 3 G’s Horse Club. He enjoyed attending his sons’ and grandchildren’s athletic and 4-H events.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn of Beatrice; one son, Monty (Kathy) Barnard of Beatrice; one daughter-in-law, Annette Barnard of Beatrice; two granddaughters, Holly (Aaron) Folkerts and Hanah Barnard (Reid Baumgartner) all of Beatrice; one grandson, Kasey (Sara) Barnard of Beatrice; one great-grandson, Karsen Folkerts; two brothers-in-law, Ronald (Sandi) Jones and Donald Jones, Jr. all of Lincoln; many cousins, nephews and a niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Marjette Barnts Barnard; his son, Roger; granddaughter, Jill Ann Barnard; parents-in-law, Donald and Faye Jones; two brothers-in-law, Randall and John Jones.

Funeral services will be held at the First Christian Church of Beatrice on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. David A. Bigley officiating. Private burial will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Saturday in the church parlor. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Gage County 4-H Horse Club with Duane Siems and Gilbert Buhr in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice until 9:00 P.M. Friday and at the church one hour preceding the services on Saturday. www.foxfuneralhome.net.
