The funeral service for Carey Thomas Anderson Jr. age 72 of Ashland, will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Millerville Baptist Church with Dennis Robertson and Robert Williamson officiating.
Mr. Anderson passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Stringfellow Hospital in Anniston. He was a native of Ashland, a graduate of Bibb Graves High School Class of 1963 and had lived in Georgia from 1990 until moving back to Clay County in 2007. He was an inspector of nuclear power plant and also worked for Robert Harris Homes from which he retired.
He is survived by two daughters: Michele Anderson Robinson (Lynn) of Ashland and Tonya Nicole Morgan (Brian) of Villa Rica, GA; step-son, Shane Anderson of Gwinnett County, GA; 4 grandchildren, 3 nieces, 1 nephew and extended family.
Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents, Carey Thomas Anderson Sr., and Esther Sellers Anderson; one sister, Winonah "Molly" Anderson Huddleston and one brother, Braxton "Buck" Anderson.
Pallbearers will be John Toland, Robert Williamson, Dick Toland, Larry Wheeles, Lowell Bowen and Wendell Wolfe. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Bibb Graves High School, Class of '63, Dee and Beth Jackson, Willie Strickling, Stanley Strickland, Don Sullivan and Huron "Cotton" Patterson.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bibb Graves High School Alumni and Friends Association.
