Larry A. Hoover, age 81, of Garrett, passed away on Wednesday August 2, 2017, at the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Hoover was born on May 14, 1936 in Bluffton, Indiana, to Carl and Bernice (Lewis) Hoover.
He married Betty Caudill in Kendallville on May 13, 1967. She resides in Garrett.
Larry worked as an iron worker for the Iron Workers Local 147 for 38 years, retiring in 1991. After retirement he drove school bus for 12 years for the Garrett-Keyser-Butler Community Schools. Most recently Larry was mowing for the Garrett Country Club.
He was a member of the Garrett Eagles and the Garrett First Church of Christ where he was recently baptized.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Hoover of Garrett; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Danielle Hoover of Gulf Shores, Alabama, and Scott and Jennifer Hoover of Garrett; a daughter, Michelle Grigsby of Garrett; eight grandchildren, Jasmyn Ducharme and her husband, Spencer, C.J. Hoover, Jordan McCoy, Makinnah Grigsby, Peyton Grigsby, Kaleb Hoover, Jakob Hoover and Katelyn Hoover; two great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Bernice "Sue" and Keith Timmerman of Spencerville and Nina Hollabaugh of Spencerville; a brother, Danny Hoover; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Carl Hoover.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 South Center Street in Auburn. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Additional visitation will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 from 3-7 p.m. at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home in Auburn.
Burial will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.
Officiating the funeral service will be Brother Bud Owen of the Garrett First Church of Christ.
