The death cert of his son Wilbur says his father's middle name was Nelson. The informant was Wilbur's half sister's son Carl Olson. However, the 1870 will of Isaac H. Boggs of Lawrence Co., IL, husband of Margaret, lists a son George Newton Boggs as one of his 6 children. Our George N. Boggs was married in 1879 in the next county over (Richland Co., IL) to Lydia V. Judy with his parents listed as Isaac H. Boggs and Margaret Sherly. It seems very likely that these two Isaac H. Boggs' are the same person, and thus that George's middle name may have been Newton instead of Nelson unless it was changed at some point. Given the amount of time between George's death and the death cert of his son and that the informant was an in-law who never knew George, an error on the cert does seem more likely.
