According to a Manning Times article, John James and Howard Muldrow, sons of Alme O and Josephine Hodge, died while visiting in Georgetown, SC. The young men (14 - and 16 - years of age) stopped to get water from a well and a board slipped from a nearby lumber grinding machine and struck them in the head. Both died immediately and were transported back to Pinewood where they were laid to rest at Calvary Church cemetery.
