Nathan Hess was born in Rockingham, Virginia, 4 Apr. 1830. In 1851, he was married to Harriet Nancy Gaines. He was the last of a family of 10 children. His children survive him, Della Smith of Lawton, Okla., Charles M. & Edward C.
At the home of the latter son he passed away 28 Aug. 1911 aged 84 years 4 months 24 days. He has been living here since the death of his wife, 24 Dec. 1910.
The funeral was held in the Dewar M. E. Church Wednesday at 10 a.m. in charge of pastor, P.M. Phillips. Interment in Raymond Cemetery.
