Herman Lowell "Sleepy" Maclin, 87, of Memphis, formerly of Ridgely, died Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at South Breeze Assisted Living in Memphis.

Born on January 1, 1930, he was the son of the late Robert Pirtle and Georgia Brandon Maclin.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ridgely, a retired rural postal carrier and a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. Sleepy was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 6, 2017 in the Ridgely Chapel of Curry Funeral Home. Interment will follow in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The Maclin family will receive visitors Sunday beginning at 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Maclin and husband Eric Schmeckpeper of Acworth, GA, LeAnn Furniss and husband Lamar of Collierville, TN; six grandchildren, Rachel Furniss Greenwald (Andy), Allison Furniss, Hannah Furniss, Aidan Schmeckpeper (Beth), Patrick Schmeckpeper (Catherine), and Connor Schmeckpeper (Angel).

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Louise Sims Maclin; and his brother Robert Brandon Maclin.

Pallbearers will be Mack Forrester, Wilkes Moore, Gerald Rogers, John Marvin, Sammy Tickle, Kent Patterson, Trent Patterson and Tony Leake.

The family requests memorials be directed to Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation (JDRF), 498 Halle Park, Suite 102, Collierville, TN 38017
