Mrs. Emily Kilby, third daughter of Richard and Mercy Kilby, was born in Wilson County, Kansas, September 2, 1877.
She departed this life, June 2, 1962, at her home in Taneyville, after a lingering illness, at the age of 84 years, 9 months.
On July 4th, 1895, she was united in marriage to Aluah H. Wilson, of Ottawa, Kansas. Mr. Wilson preceded her in death in 1933. To this union were born three children: Eva May Wilson; Richard S. Wilson, Frances Learah Wilson.
She was converted in early childhood, was baptized and united with the Methodist Church in Taneyville, in 1894, at what is now known as the Taneyville Union Chapel.
She was an active Sunday School and Church worker, as long as her health permitted.
She is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Eva Parmeter, of Springfield; Mrs. Frances Hires, Taneyville; two sisters and one brother: Violet Lamb Snellgrove, Purcell, Oklahoma; Alice Creech, Joplin, and John Kilby, Taneyville; also 9 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Intermittent was in Dickens Cemetery, beside her husband.
