John Samuel Austin, 81 passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017.
Born in Carnesville on December 21, 1935, Mr. Austin was the son of the late Pelham and Rozelle Butler Austin. He was a retail sales clerk.
Survivors include sons, James Douglas Austin, Lexington, and Mark Anthony Austin, Hartwell; daughter, Lisa Carole Meadows, Lexington; sister, Joyce Long, Jefferson; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, August 4, at Ivie Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Brent Lewis and Ben Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Grey Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Note : Mr. Austin was affectionately known to his friends and acquaintances as, "Walking John".
