Services for C. A. "Chub" Bennett, 87, Forsyth, were Tuesday in Forsyth Whelchel Chapel with Carl Herndon officiating. Burial was in Dickens Cemetery, Taneyville.
Mr. Bennett died early Saturday in Skaggs Community Hospital, in Branson, after a sudden illness.
A Portem(Protem) native and a lifelong resident of Taney County, he attended Dickens and Helphrey. For 30 years he was the postmaster for Kissee Mills and Dickens. He helped organize the Bank of Taney County, and served as a charter board member for 16 years. He was a member of the Taneyville School Board for 30 years and was on the board of the White River Valley Electric Cooperative from 1940 to 1947. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Ulva; a son, R.L. "Bob," Forsyth; two daughters, Roberta Glee Williams and Glenda R. McCormick, both of Forsyth; four grandchildren; and three-great grandchildren.
