Obituary: In Memory of Helen Ruth (Holland) Honeycutt
September 25, 1923 - January 17, 2017
A lady who loved the Lord, her church and her family best describes Helen Ruth Honeycutt, 93 who went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. Helen was born to the late Frank and Mary (Jenkins) Holland on September 25, 1923 in Gaston County. Her favorite pastime was making ceramics and she was known at many craft shows including Clover and the Gaston Farmer's Market. Helen was also a devoted member for 81 years at Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church. She loved her family and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Jim Honeycutt (Elaine) of Fort Mill, SC, Dennis Honeycutt (Kathy) of Winter Springs, FL, Mary Ellington (Steve) of Dallas, NC, Jane Karriker (Jim) of Sunset Beach, NC and Steve Honeycutt (Bobbie) of Denver, NC; nine grandchildren, Kevin Honeycutt (Ashley), Frank Honeycutt, Kristina Swayngim, Jill Owle, Katie Gregg (Jamie), Mike Karriker (Heather), Brian Karriker (Kristin), Michelle Fitch (Eric), Chris Honeycutt; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Floyd Reed Honeycutt; children, Sue Honeycutt and David Honeycutt; grandson, Scott Honeycutt; and sisters, Annie May McCall and Thelma Hunsinger.
A celebration of her life will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church. Reverend Debra Short will preside. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church, 1425 W. Franklin Blvd, Gastonia, NC 28052.
Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park is honored to serve the Honeycutt family.
