Rubie Bellin, 100, of Cambridge, formerly of Isanti, died September 13, 2011 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West.
Rubie Loretta Bellin was born September 18, 1910 in North Branch Township, Isanti County, to William and Sophie (Krueger) Boettcher. Rubie was baptized, confirmed and married at St. John Lutheran Church in Weber. Ruby and her seven siblings grew up on the Boettcher family farm in the Weber area. Ruby and her sister, Eva, were the first students in District 34 to graduate from high school. The Boettcher sisters enrolled in the 1929 – 1930 teacher training department, Normal School, in Cambridge and became licensed teachers. Rubie first taught in District 48 in Athens Township. On June 11, 1932 she married Harold Bellin and they would become the parents of five children. Rubie returned to teaching in 1942 and taught six years in District 43. She later taught in District 20. In 1954 she was hired by the Isanti school board as a teaching principal. Rubie took summer and evening college classes and earned her masters degree in 1967. In 1966 she was the full-time principal in the Isanti School. After 34 years in education, Rubie retired in 1976. She continued to live in rural Isanti until 2002 when she moved to Riverwood Village in Cambridge. Rubie was a very active life-time member of St. John Lutheran Church in Weber where she served in many capacities over the years. She also enjoyed quilting, playing table games and crossword puzzles.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; infant daughter, Carolyn; son, Lloyd; 2 brothers, Lawrence and Aaron Boettcher; 2 sisters, Marilyn Wallin and Eva Steinbring. Rubie is survived by her daughter, Annabelle (Glenn) Johnson of North Branch; 3 sons, Loran (Joyce) Bellin of Harris, Allen Bellin of Isanti, Harlan (Michelle) Bellin of Stacy; daughter-in-law, Annette Bellin of Isanti; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Alvera Lindstrom of Cambridge, Ione Schlipp of Cambridge, Marjorie (Edward) Zimmer of Roseville; sister-in-law, Ethel Boettcher of Cambridge; and by many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16 at St. John Lutheran Church in Weber with Rev. Kevin Zellers officiating. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15 at Strike Funeral Home--Isanti Chapel and also one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Nancy Peabody will serve as organist. The pallbearers are David and Rick Bellin, Larry, Wade and Wayne Boettcher and John Steinbring. Interment is in the church cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Strike Funeral Home -- Isanti Chapel.
