Eugene “Gene” Thomas Parker, 69, Cutler, passed away at 9:26 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2017, in the emergency room at I.U. Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. He was born June 13, 1948, in Augusta, Georgia, to James and Florence (Thomas) Parker. On March 31, 1979, he married Maureen J. Daly, in Louisville, Georgia, and she survives.

Gene graduated from Hillsborough High School in Tampa, Florida. He began working for Lafayette Venetian Blind in 1992 and retired in 2011. Gene’s faith was very important to him, and he greatly enjoyed fellowship with his church family at Oakland Christian Church, where he was involved with the Carroll and Clinton County Jail Ministries. His pastimes included gardening, traveling, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Maureen Parker, he is survived by his children, Christopher (Courtney) Parker, Brownsburg, Matthew Parker, West Lafayette, Rebekah (Nick) Hoffman, Flora, Seth Parker, Grovetown, Georgia, Samuel (Ashley Simmons) Parker, Indianapolis, and Rachel Parker, Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Cecelia Hoffman and Evan Hoffman; two brothers, James Parker and Robert Parker, both of Zephyrhills, Florida; and one sister, Linda (Larry) Keith, Zephyrhills, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John Parker and Jack Parker.

Funeral services for Gene will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017, at Oakland Christian Church, 2005 S. 1280 W., Russiaville, with Pastor Dennis Riggs officiating. Burial will follow in Ball Hill Cemetery near Cutler. Friends are invited to visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, Neptune Chapel, 44 Michigan St., Burlington.
