Fidel Tafoya Jr., age 68, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Fidel was born in Socorro, NM on September 13, 1949 to Fidel R. Tafoya and Desideria Gonzáles.
Fidel was raised in Magdalena, NM and graduated from Magdalena High School.
Fidel was employed with Socorro County for 14 years. Fidel then worked for the Forrest Service in the maintenance department for seven years. Fidel loved to hunt, visit with his family and had a special place in his heart for his beloved dog, Chico.
Fidel was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Celso Tafoya and niece, Antoinette Tafoya.
Fidel is survived by his sisters, Sally (Howard) Giles and Margaret (David) Martínez, brothers, Carlos (Olivia) Tafoya, Richard (Ramona) Tafoya and Tom (Vickie) Bee, nieces, Veronica Benavidez, Kimberly Adam and Keona Zamora, nephews, Carlos Tafoya Jr., Richard Tafoya Jr., Luis Tafoya, Brian Tafoya, Daniel Tafoya, Joe Martínez and John Giles and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Rosary will be recited on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at San Miguel Catholic Church. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at San Miguel Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Father John Anasiudu. Burial will take place at Magdalena Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers will be Richard Tafoya Jr., Ernest Baca, Ronnie Gonzáles, Doug Boykin and Louie Armijo and Ray Martínez.
