She attended Chilton High School in Chilton TX. After graduation she moved to Waco to attend 4-C business College. After graduating 4-C, she went to work for First National Bank of Waco where she met Gene Richard Conner and later married. They married on December 29, 1962 and had a son Richard Conner. She traveled with her husband and son in Texas, California, Midway Island, Corpus Christi and settled in Robinson Texas after her husband retired from the Navy. She devoted her life to being a great wife and great mom raising her son. She continued with her motherly instincts and worked for a number of years at the Methodist Home in Waco. Darlene started developing her motherly instincts by caring for her two younger sisters, Cheryl and Mary Joyce while their mother worked. She continued this life by helping with her niece Mindy Dudley. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Darlene’s greatest joy was her family.
She is survived by her devoted and loving husband Gene Conner of 54 years, her son Richard Conner, her grandson Garrett Conner, two sisters Cheryl Retzlaff and Mary Joyce Dudley, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for friends will be at First Baptist Church Robinson Aug 4th at 1:00 with the Funeral at 2:00
