Services Today For James A. Merrifield
Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Acton Methodist Church for James A. Merrifield, 80, who died at his home near Weatherford Tuesday, March 8. He is a former resident of Acton.
Born November 4, 1860, in Dallas County, Mr. Merrifield was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Merrifield. The family moved to Acton when he was a small child and it was there that he lived for forty years before moving to Parker County where he has lived for the last forty years. He had been a member of the Methodist Church for twenty-one years. He and Mrs. Merrifield celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary February 27, 1949. His wife survives him as do four children, Mrs. R. W. Brown and Mrs. Robert Kincaid of Weatherford, Mrs. G. B. Wohlford of Granbury and Mrs. G. B. McAda of Borger. A grandson, George McAda, was reared by Mr. and Mrs. Merrifield. He and three other grandchildren survive as do four great-grandchildren.
Rev. C. Y. Butler, pastor of the Granbury Methodist Church, conducted the last rites for Mr. Merrifield and many old-time friends attended the service. Interment was in the Acton Cemetery. Pallbearers were the sons of a beloved friend, Mrs. Fannie Massey.
