Miss Nancy Ann Clarke, 79, of Salisbury, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Autumn Care of Salisbury. She was born on May 23, 1938 in Salisbury, daughter of the late Kenneth Edward Clarke, Sr. and Martha Elizabeth "Lib" Sprinkle-Clarke. Nancy attended Frank B. John Elementary School, Boyden High School Class of 1956, and Salisbury Business School. Nancy retired after 30 years with City of Salisbury, first with the Water Department and then with the Revenue Department. After retiring she worked for Citizen Bank in the loan department on South Main Street. Nancy was a member of First Baptist Church and the Summa Petenda Sunday School class. Before declining in health, she was active with Bible Drills. Nancy went with First Baptist Church on mission trips to Brazil and Peru. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Edward Clarke, Jr. on Dec. 2, 1988; and a nephew, Timothy Lynn Clarke on July 30, 1963. Survivors include her sister, Martha Elizabeth Clarke of Salisbury; nephews and niece Jeff Clarke, Ken Clarke (Elizabeth), and Gina Phifer all of Cleveland; great-nieces and nephews, Coleman, Clarke, and Corbin Phifer and Mason, Emma and Annistyn Clarke all of Cleveland. Also surviving her are aunts, Margaret Clark and Sarah Sprinkle; cousins, Peggy S. Summerlin, Brenda S. Bernhardt, Gilbert Sprinkle, Keith Sprinkle and Bobby Clark. Visitation and Service: The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m., Friday, Aug. 4, at First Baptist Church of Salisbury. The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m., at the church, officiated by Rev. Dr. Kenneth Lance. Burial will follow the service at Chestnut Hill Cemetery. Memorials: Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 223 N. Fulton St., Salisbury, NC 28144 or the charity of the donor's choice. Summersett Funeral Home is serving the Clarke family.
